Many tourists asked if it was possible to go to Katu-Yaryk with our bear. We ourselves didn’t really know what to answer, because we simply hadn’t been there yet. And finally we went and checked it out.

No, you can't go there with a motorhome. At least not at a rental car.

Grizzly Green will most likely be able to overcome the pass. But the risk of an accident or breakdown is too great. This can easily ruin both your trip and the trip of those who will be behind you. The road there is really not easy: both at the pass itself and after it, in the Chulyshman Valley. What's worse, repairing the motorhome, or delivering the necessary parts, or completely evacuating the area will cost a lot of time and money.

So it's not worth it. We officially prohibit it.

If you really want to, you can go to Aktash and book a jeep tour there. Or even get to the pass itself (only on a Grizzly!), stand at the top, and take a tour from there. Fortunately, there are plenty of offers locally.

Chulyshman is, of course, beautiful. But in other places in Altai it’s no worse. Those who have already climbed everything else come here. And many of our tourists arrive from other cities, and this is their first time in Altai. They have enough impressions already, without Katu-Yaryk.

The stars aligned in such a way that, without any prior agreement, both of our bears ended up in the same parking lot near Artybash. And at the same time we were there, having arrived by ferry from the southern coast. It was interesting.

The bears are in good health and cheerfully continue their hard work. Grizzly Green's journey was not overshadowed even by the replacement of a broken axle shaft last week, right in the middle of the Chuysky tract, in Ongudai. Conclusions have been made, reinforced axle shafts have already been ordered, and will be stuck in place on the first free day in our schedule. And we will put one standard axle shaft in the luggage compartment, just in case.
